| Flights
- All flights for UK-recruited teachers are
organised by Saxoncourt in conjunction with
STA
- A one way fare to Taiwan costs approximately
GBP 350-370
Teachers pay their fares up front themselves
- The full fare is reimbursed by SEST in 2 instalments,
one after 3 months of the contract and the second
after 4 months
- Teachers travel together in a group on a set
departure date
- Non-UK recruited teachers need to arrive at
the same time as the main (UK) group
- Teachers are met at the airport and taken
to their accommodation by SES staff
Commuting
- Teachers will find accommodation suitable
to their needs for both living and working
- All DTE teachers teach in different schools
throughout the week
- Although a convenient a schedule as possible
is the aim, schools can be spread widely. A
teacher can expect to commute but it is unusual
for teachers to be asked to travel for more
than an hour and a quarter to a class or school
(the average is about 30 minutes)
- Trains and buses in all cities are extremely
clean, punctual and efficient. Taxis are also
cheap
- Teachers are responsible for their own travel
costs
- Because of the start and finish times fo a
typical teaching day, city rush hour can usually
be avoided
- A comprehensive 'How To Get To Schools' guide
is provided to all new teachers which contains
detailed directions and bilingual maps for every
school
- Most train and bus signs are also in English
