Welfare
- SES Japan also offers teachers support and
help where possible in coming to terms with
the everyday problems faced by foreigners living
in Japan.
- Japanese welfare staff, the Directors of Studies
and other staff are approachable and have plenty
of experience of living in what can be a very
different environment.
- The company also organises and subsidizes
social events for staff (particularly new teachers)
who are often working far from home for the
first time.
- The school will help teachers enrole on free/extremely
cheap Japanese lessons provided by their local
council
Insurance and Pension
- A comprehensive health insurance is arranged
for all new teachers which provides 100% coverage
(excluding pre-existing conditions).
- Teachers living in Shane apartments will be
covered for household contents insurance
- After 9 months with the company, teachers
are welcome to join the company's offshore pension
scheme, with a 40% contribution from the school.
Research
- It is vitally important however that teachers
conduct research (Japan Tourist Board / Embassy
/ Websites / Literature) into Japan and the
problems faced by foreign residents adapting
to life there before making a commitment.
- Remember, this is not a working holiday, but
a demanding and fun job in a completely different
county.
- You will face a lot of challenges and you
will have a great and rewarding time if you
are positive, open-minded, flexible and culturally-aware.
