Adults
- Because very little English is generally used
in everyday Japanese society, the general standard
of spoken English is lower than in most European
and many other Asian countries, although of
course there are exceptions to this.
- Adult students are grouped by ability from
complete beginners to advanced
- The vast majority of students are generally
pre-intermediate level and below
- Lessons focused on communication (conversation,
listening and pronunciation)
- Far higher proportion of higher level students
in city centre locations.
- In Japan, there are very few adults who are
complete beginners.
Students will attend one or more of
the following courses:
- General English Group lesson (one 55-minute
lesson per week)

preparation course (mainly IELTS and TOEIC)
Shane
Language Services (SLS)
- This department sends teachers to clients
outside of Shane schools
- Lessons include in-company classes, private
kindergartens and schools, home lessons
- Class sizes of up to 30 students in private
kindergartens
- New teachers could expect one day a week of
these outside lessons.
