Rent (up to 78,000 yen), medical insurance (about
6,600 yen)

Cost
of Living
Despite Tokyo's expensive reputation, teachers can live
relatively comfortably if they adapt to Japanese
eating and living habits. Tax is very low, commuting
costs are reimbursed and there has been deflation
for 10 years. Teachers will need sound financial
self-discipline, but most teachers do manage to
save. However, we do stress that money should
not be the primary reason for wanting to teach
in Japan. |
