the major cities of China, there are many opportunities
for teaching throughout the year.
DTE ‘Direct Teaching
Establishments’
- These schools are directly owned and managed
by the Shane organisation.
- These schools are located in Shanghai
and Beijing (see below for franchise schools
in other locations)..
- Both schools have Chinese administrative staff
and a school manager.
- Teachers teach all ages and levels of students
both in groups and one-on-one.
- Teachers are expected to fulfil tasks asked
of them by the schools managers (e.g. interviewing
prospective students, helping to place a new
student in a suitable class etc.).
Franchise Schools
- These schools are owned and managed by Chinese
nationals who have purchased a Shane franchise
school in accordance with Shane English School
guidelines and policies.
- These schools are located
in various locations including X'ian, Chengdu,
Kunming, Suzhou, Hangzhou and Ningbo.
- The teacher works directly for the franchise
owner rather than Shane English Schools China
- There are Shanghai based franchises and there
are franchises in different provinces all over
China
- Schools have Chinese administrative staff
and a school manager
- Teachers are expected to fulfil tasks asked
of them by the franchise owners (e.g. interviewing
prospective students, helping to place a new
student in a suitable class etc.)
- Most franchises have their own academic manager
(senior teacher or assistant director of studies
or Director of studies)
- There is an overall Director of Studies responsible
for all franchises based at head office. Head
Office makes regular school visits.
